Borovets - the best place for skiing in Bulgaria
Situated at 1300m altitude, on Rila Mountain’s northern slopes, at the very foot of Mussala peak, Borovets is the largest mountain resort in Bulgaria. It is easily accessible from all over the country, 70km away from Sofia and 120km away from Plovdiv.
The resort offers ideal opportunities for a memorable winter vacation. There are 58 kilometers of marked ski runs. Тhe lift facilities are renovated every year. This season, a brand new quad chair lift “Markudjik 2” with 1000m length and capacity of 2400 persons per hour replaces the existing ski drag. The resort boasts also a brand new snow making system, covering an area of above 20 hectares, including ski runs “Yastrebets 3” and “Popangelov” /former “Yastrebets 2”/. The snowmaking system installed by Borosport Ltd. in front of hotel Rila is working full-time during the ski season, as well, covering ski runs “Rila”, “Iglika”, “Martinovi Baraki 2” and “Martinovi Baraki 3”. The runs are sound-tracked and lit up by modern lighting systems, allowing for night skiing fun.
The resort offers excellent conditions for skiing, snowboarding, cross country or just winter holidays surrounded by the majestic pine-tree forest.
At the very heart of the resort, next to lift “Martinovi baraki” and ski runs ”Cherveno zname” and “Rila”, only 200m away from the Gondola lift, you will find the most impressive hotel in Borovets – “Rila”. Built in the traditional Alpine style by the French company Les Arcs, the hotel offers 257 double rooms and 266 studios /with capacity up to 4 people/. After an intense day on the runs you can retreat in the spa center to have a relaxing massage or go swimming in the hotel indoor swimming pool. Meet your friends at the pool bar or at the lobby bar or if you wish - try your luck in the friendly casino.
