The biggest mountain bike start for the season will mark the ending of the summer season in Borovets
The international bike race Borovets Open Cup 2017 will mark the ending of the summer season in Borovets on 24 September. After four months of good mood, sunshine and, most importantly, a lot of smiling tourists, the resort will send off summer 2017 with the biggest mountain biking start in Bulgaria. The competition is part of the calendar of the International Cycling Union, and the organizers from Borosport and Borovets Bike Park expect nearly 120 participants. The kids will ride on September 23, and the 24th will be reserved for the most spectacular discipline - the downhill. The track will be around the Cherveno Zname slope, with spectators enjoying technical performances and high speeds.
Summer 2017 in the first mountain resort in Bulgaria will be remembered with thousands of satisfied mountain enthusiasts, friends of the nature and the mountain biking. Borosport welcomed its guests with a completely renewed mountain bike trails, dozens of hiking and climbing routes and countless entertainment options. Tourists could choose between adventures in the rope town, a visit to the Iskar hunting lodge, trekking to Musala, Seven Rila lakes and Malyovitsa, archery and air rifle, horseback riding, paintball, tennis, paragliding and many others.
From June to September, Borovets organized several high-class competitions. The best Bulgarian athletes competed in mountain running, mountain biking and summer biathlon championships. The Magic of Rila Mountain Festival gathered folklore groups from all over Bulgaria and the traditional holiday of the Rila Mountain was marked by a mass climb on peak Musala. During the summer months, two of the lifts in the resort – the gondola lift Yastrebets and the high speed quad Sitnyakovo Express – were in operation.
As in previous years, Borosport continued to support various charity initiatives. This year, the resort helped to organize the summer camp of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus - Bulgaria Association, allowing children with disabilities to enjoy Rila Mountain. Borosport supported its own staff who were affected by the floods in Samokov. The resort has strengthened its policy of working with future sport stars in various disciplines and has continued its support for our best mountain biker Victoria Gonceva. Borosport also allowed ten athletes from Pro Samokov biking team to use the facilities in the resort for free.
In the summer of 2017 a reconstruction of the water supply network in Borovets was carried out. The repair was executed by a project of the municipality of Samokov and valued 2.8 million BGN. Meanwhile a complete renovation of the west wing of the biggest hotel in the region - hotel Rila took place, with 330 new SUPERIOR rooms to be launched in October.
From September 25, the lifts in Borovets go into prophylactics to meet skiers and snowboarders in December for the new winter season.
