Safety rules in the mountain during the summer time.

The temperatures in Borovets resort may range between 28°C in the daytime to - 7-8°C during the night.

Drastic and sudden temperature changes are common on the mountain.

To stay safe, please observe the following rules:

1. Check on weather conditions before choosing your route.

2. Be sure your gear is suitable for the season and current conditions

3. In the summer, be sure to carry:

  • Sunscreen /lip balm
  • Sun glasses
  • Sun hat/baseball hat
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Mountain shoes
  • Water and high energy food

4. Before starting your journey in the mountains, inform your friends/family/hotel staff about your itinerary.

5. Be sure to have on hand at all times, telephone numbers of the hotel and the mountain rescue services, in case of emergency.

6. Avoid being in the mountains after dark

High Altitude Awareness At above 2000m, altitude illness affects 20-30% of visitors with varying degree. Symptoms include shortness of breath, especially when exercising, faster heart beat rate, nausea, unusual tiredness, headache, or difficulty sleeping. Those with one or more of these symptoms may have Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If the symptoms do not subside shortly, a doctor should be called. Upon arrival to the mountain resort, take it easy for the first day or two. Drink two-to-three times more water or fluids, than usual. Limit alcohol consumption for the first two or three days and minimize caffeine intake. Limit salty foods and increase carbohydrate consumption. Most importantly, listen to your body. Do not push the limits of your physical capabilities.
